Calling all plant lovers!
Come along to Communicare’s spring plant fundraisertaking place here next month (May 2026) in aid of Communicare and bag some greenfingered bargains.
The charity is holding the event in our backyard on May 16 with all money raised going towards helping lonely and isolated people in our neighbourhood and across Southampton.

Communicare Manager Annie says: “We’re delighted to be hosting our fifth annual plant sale once again this year at CommuniBakes, the brilliant artisan bakery that supports our charity. The event will take place on Saturday, May 16, from 10am until 12pm.
“We’ve invited people to sow a few extra seeds, take cuttings or grow on spare plants and bring them along as donations on the day from 8.30am. We can’t wait to see the wonderful plants people kindly contribute to help us raise funds for the vital work we do.

“We also hope lots of people join us for the sale itself. Visitors will be able to treat themselves to something sweet or savoury from the bakery and enjoy a tea or coffee while they browse. As all CommuniBakes profits are donated to us, every delicious cake enjoyed or tasty loaf taken home directly helps people in your community through our good neighbours’ initiatives.”
Pre-order your bread & treats
As well as having a full counter on the day, we also offer a pre-ordering service, so you can order ahead and pick up your traybakes, cakes, pastries, pasties or loaves instore on the day.
Pre-orders can be made in person for any of our products or by calling us. All pre-orders must be made before the day.
All about Communicare
Communicare, which is a friendly, neighbourhood charity, provides services that enrich the lives of isolated people in and around Southampton.
Communicare’s services are staffed by its devoted volunteers, known as Communiteers, who give their time freely.
The charity is currently supporting more than 750 individuals/families through tasks including, befriending, transport for appointments and assistance with shopping.
The services Communicare provides are free to users, although beneficiaries are invited to make a donation if they are able to, and Communiteers are offered expenses.
When’s the plant sale?
The Communicare plant sale will take place here at CommuniBakes at 21, St James Road, Shirley, Southampton on Saturday, May 16 from 10am until 12pm. Donations can be dropped off with us from 8.30am on the day.
