Come along to Communicare’s spring plant fundraiser
Calling all plant lovers! You are invited to come along and bag some greenfingered bargains at a spring plant sale taking place here next month (May 2025) in aid of Communicare.
The charity is hosting the event in our backyard on May 10 with all money raised going towards helping lonely and isolated people in our neighbourhood and across Southampton.
Bring & buy plants
Emily Arbery, Fundraising and Finance Coordinator at Communicare, told us: “We’re thrilled to be hosting our fourth annual plant sale once again this year at CommuniBakes, which is the commercial venture for our charity. It takes place on Saturday, May 10 from 10am until 12pm.
“People have been asked to sow extra seeds for us, take cuttings and grow on plants and donate them on the day from 8.30am. We’re really looking forward to seeing what people kindly bring along for us to sell to help raise funds for the vital work we do.
Take home treats
“We hope lots of people come to the sale on the day as well. Those that do will be able to pick up a sweet or savoury treat from the bakery and enjoy a tea or coffee. CommuniBakes profits are donated to us. So, you can enjoy a delicious cake, or take home a tasty loaf, and at the same time you’re also helping people living in your community through our Good Neighbours initiatives.”
Pre-order your bread & treats
As well as having a full counter on the day, we also offer a sourdough bread pre-ordering service, so you can order online and pick up your loaf or loaves instore on the day.
Pre-orders can also be made in person for any of our products before the day or by calling us.
All about Communicare
Communicare, which is a friendly, neighbourhood charity, provides services that enrich the lives of isolated people in and around Southampton.
Communicare’s services are staffed by its devoted volunteers, known as Communiteers, who give their time freely.
The charity is currently supporting more than 750 individuals/families through tasks including, befriending, transport for appointments and assistance with shopping.
The services Communicare provides are free to users, although beneficiaries are invited to make a donation if they are able to, and Communiteers are offered expenses.
When’s the plant sale?
The Communicare plant sale will take place here at CommuniBakes at 21, St James Road, Shirley, Southampton on Saturday, May 10 from 10am until 12pm. Donations can be dropped off with us from 8.30am on the day.
