The profit from Communibakes goes to Communicare in Southampton, to support the incredible life enriching work that the staff and Communiteers (volunteers) do in Southampton.

Communicare in Southampton is a friendly, local charity that enriches the quality of life of lonely and isolated people in Southampton. Our committed Communiteers act as good neighbours; they offer practical and emotional support in a variety of different way at no cost to the clients.

The different ways that we help include:

Befriending: Regular contact with the same volunteer.

Out and About: Accompanying people out for a walk, out for coffee, to a favourite place or to a social gathering.

Transport: Providing transport to medical appointments and social engagements, where taxis and public transport are not at option.

Shopping: Shopping for or with those who are frail, unwell or disabled.

DIY and Gardening: Helping with DIY, decorating, as well as gardening help, such as mowing the lawn, weeding and garden tidying.

Family Help: Helping young families support their children through play and practical help.

Hospital Homecoming: Thanks to CCG funding, we have been able to set up a service to support vulnerable people, who have recently been discharged from hospital. Communiteers help with small ‘settling back home’ tasks, including shopping, light cleaning and checking people have enough to drink and eat, with the main purpose of reducing hospital re-admission.

Hello Southampton: This telephone support service offers regular scheduled phone calls up to five times a week (Monday-Friday) to isolated or vulnerable people. Our team of Communiteers make calls to check on clients’ wellbeing and have a quick chat, providing reassurance and a friendly ear.

Mental Health Network: We are delighted to have lead on setting up a mental health network, with the aim of bring individuals and organisations across the City together, united by the vision to “make Southampton a mental health friendly City”. Membership is open to any individual or organisation wishing to become involved.
