Creating a fab, festive dinner table

Christmas is always the time of year when many people entertain in their own homes and aside from making sure you have some delicious foods and desserts to serve up, you should also consider making sure your dinner table is looking its best too.
Our team have shared some of their top tips for creating a fab, festive dinner table this Christmas.
Have a colour theme
Decide early on what your colour theme is going to be and ensure your table is colour coordinated with its tablecloth, napkins, cutlery or crockery all matching. Or you could even mix and match two or three different colourways if you fancy. There is also a trend for an organic look with many different colours, while also bringing in old and new items to celebrate Christmas past and happy memories too.
Table accessories
Accessorise your table with a showstopping centrepiece or use a combination of bare branches and evergreen foliage, such as eucalyptus, ivy and rosemary sprigs to create a natural look. Alternatively, fill a large clear vase with silver baubles to complement your colour scheme and have it sitting pride of place.
Seating for guests
There’s nothing worse than realising at the last minute that you don’t have enough seats to go around the table.
Make sure you have enough seating for everyone well in advance of the big day, even if you do have to improvise, as this can all be part of the fun.
Set the mood
You can’t go wrong with pretty fairy lights and candles at Christmas time. Switch off any overhead lights and use freestanding lamps alongside your lights and candles to really set the ambience. Just make sure there is enough light for everyone to see each other, so they can chat freely, and see what they are eating too.
You could also have some suitable music playing in the background, something people can talk over that isn’t too obtrusive, but gives tone to the event.
