Donate plants for spring charity sale

We’d love it if you could sow extra seeds, take cuttings and grow plants for Communicare’s plant sale this spring.

The event will be held here at the back of the bakery in May and the charity team is asking for plant donations on the day. These will be sold to raise funds for its work helping eradicate loneliness in our neighbourhood and the city.

What, where and when

Emily Arbery, Communicare’s Fundraising and Finance Coordinator, explains: “We’re delighted to be hosting our third annual spring plant sale at our commercial venture, CommuniBakes at 21, St James Road in Shirley on Saturday, May 11 from 10am until 12pm.

“All the money raised from the sale of plants people donate will be go towards furthering the work we do to help vulnerable and isolated people in Southampton and it’s an invaluable event in both our fundraising and social calendar.

How to donate

“We’re asking anyone out there who might be currently sowing or growing plants for themselves to please also sow and plant up, or take a few extra cuttings for us, and donate them to our sale. Or if anyone has too many potted plants, indoor or out, that they would like to give us to sell too, that’d be great. Donations can be dropped at CommuniBakes on the day of the event from 8.30am.

Eat and drink with us too

“The event will take place at the back of CommuniBakes and will include a variety of houseplants and outdoor garden plants. Attendees can also pick up a tea or coffee and a sweet or savoury treat from the bakery if they wish to. These can be enjoyed using the bakery’s outside tables and chairs, subject to availability.”
